Jhonas Redar

Born twenty-two years ago to a simple farmer and his wife, Jhonas was brought up among good, honest folk who minded their own business and asked no questions that did not need to be asked. This caused him to grow-up as a fine young man, helping his parents on their farm year after year until, during the summer of his fifteenth year, wolves attacked the farm, determined to make off with some of the live-stock so lovingly cared for. The men grabbed what weapons they could, sickles, scythes and pitch-forks, killing as many of the rabid pack as they could, Jhonas doing all he could to help, throwing rocks as hard as he could at the wolves. One wolf managed to get through the men and jumped at Jhonas, fangs bared and ready to rip flesh. Somehow Jhonas managed to get his head out of the way, blind-luck or the will of the gods, and struck the wolf in the side of the head with the rock still in his hand. The blow wasn't enough to kill the wolf, but it knocked it out cold and the men of the farming community finished the last wolves off brutally. One of the men, impressed by the young boys bravery, picked the boy up and carried him back to his parents hovel, telling Jhonas's father of the lads actions. The man said he wanted to apprentice Jhonas and teach him the ways of the woodsman, that his natural bravery in the face of one of natures most fearsome predators should be cared for and allowed to grow. Jhonas eagerly accepted the proposal and, after much badgering, his father relented as well. From then on, Jhonas became a hunter, based at the farm owned by his parents, until taking the campsite of his master as his own when the older man disappeared into the wilds. As a hunter, he practiced his skill with a bow at every chance and swiftly became a skilled trapper out in the wilds. Due to the hides and meats he would often trade in the market, he could afford to live a not un-comfortable life outside Fort Vehr in his small campsite, in a clearing in the woods surrounding the town. The woods are his true home now, where he feels most at ease and relaxed, the woods has the sounds, sights and smells he knows. With his archery ever improving with each kill he makes, he has decided to finally turn in the life of a woodsman, to seek his fame and glory in the big wide world. He knows he will likely face many dangers as he sells his skill with a bow, but if he doesn’t at least try, how will he ever succeed?
