Leuin Morninglory

Full Name: Leuin Morninglory

Born at sunrise on the fabled island of Voltrex to a noble family. Beauty is not a thing that Leuin is lacking of. She is tall and slender. Her hair like the silk tassels of a stalk of corn. Gracefull, sometimes, yet blessed with the heritage of her elven ancestores.

Leuin has been shelted from the troubles and cares of Mistone. For such is the ways of her people. "Let the short-lived races contend one to another, let them spill their blood and waste the few years they have on this land. Patience and perservence are the allies of the elven nations." Thus Leuin was raised to concern herself with things that truely matter in this world; art, beauty, music, and magic. For it is not the noblewomans place to go to war. The blade and the bow are for the warriors and the males. Leuin was raised to nuture the strength of the weave which flows around all things. Harness its energies, bend it to your will, and use it for the betterment of those things that matter. Power corrupts, and thus is the folly of mankind.

Leuin and Celon came to live with her their aunt and uncle shortly after being orphaned. They had lived in an elven settlement on Dregar when they had been attacked. Only a few people escaped the blood of that day. Those who remained fled back across the sea where their kinsmen dwelt. Leiun was only a young child when it happened and her brother only a few years older. They were taken to live with their aunt and uncle on Voltrex.

Try as her aunt and uncle may, Leuin couldn't be forced into the mold that had been established for her. Often she would be scolded for staring out the window during her lessons. The world was so large to only know a small piece of it. How she longed to be like her brothers. Weilding their swords, commanding the armies, bring honor to themselves and the family. If she wasn't being scolded for daydreaming then it was for being late, or showing up in unlady-like manner. Her brother Celon was quite sympathetic to her plight. He would take her with him on his hunts or show her the use of the sword. Yet much to his chargrin, he could never beat Leuin in a footrace.

Thus was the first century of Leuin's life. Though she did not study her magic like many of the other pupils, magic seemed to come naturally. But the wanderlust would prove too great for Leuin. The world around her beackoned to her and called her name on every breeze. But what did Leuin know of the world? To be honest she had never even met a human before. Her people shunned using the common tongue and only taught the youth out of necessity. She had been filled for so many years with the guiding principles of her people; their prejudices; their fears; their restrictions.

But fate would soon smile upon Leuin and she would have her chance to see the world. With the coming of the bloodmoon, and rumor of war spreading throughout Mistone. Leuin was sitting on the landing of one of the great marble towers of Voltrex that morning when she saw the great sails come into view. She knew the flag on the mast to be not of Elven design. She rushed down the many steps of the tower to the great hall where most of the heads of the noble families had already gathered to meet with the foreigners. As the odd looking men explained the plight that was besetting the land, the hall filled with mummurs and chatter. The elven lords entrenched in tradition certainly would not abandon their age old mindset. Let alone these "humans" as they were called, came to Voltrex uninvited.

The Eldest of the Council of Five raised his hand to silence the people, it looked as if the adventurers would return unsuccesful in their attempts to enlist the elven nation. Something long contained within her, something that she could no longer hold in seemed to burst forth from her. She blurted forth her disagreeance. "My lord, we can not just turn our backs in their time of need."

"LEUIN!! Silence you forget your place. Now ..." "Wait Ciduin, I wish to hear what she would say." *her uncle bowed to the wishes of the council memeber* "Go on Leuin Morninglory, what is it you would speak?" *it was then that she realized what she had done. Her cheeks flushed red with embarassment. She curtesied politely hoping to buy herself sometime to think about what she was going to say* "M-My Lord" *she stuttered* "I know our traditions, I know what our people have always adhered to. But perhaps it is time for a change. Long have these humans fought the evil." *suddenly realizing that she knew little of the events of the world* "If nothing else we should atleast learn of the what transpires in the world. We can not remain hidden forever. Should these humans fail ... what then my Lord? *curtseying once more* Then this thing ... person .. whatever *showing her youth once more* would look to our home. Atleast let us learn of this evil that we may be prepared should he turn to our home." "We can not react to every concern that befalls the human race, No we will not aid in this fight. We will keep to what we have always ... let the humans deal with their own problems."

Disheartened, she returned to her home but as she came to it her feet kept walking. She was headed for the docks, to the boats that had brought the strange people to Voltrex. Behind a crate, across the gangplank, and into the hull no one would notice her pressence atleast until it was too late.
